Walking Tours

Walking Tours

Jo and I have opposite views on walking tours. First, let me establish that we both love the act of doing one. When you show up at a new place, walking its streets with someone who knows how to take you around is so valuable.

For Jo, a walking tour is about learning the roots of the city. It's history, it's significance. Who ruled it, and when. What wars or riots did it see. She wants to be transported back in time Outlander-style and understand what the peasants ate.

For me, a walking tour is about calibrating my compass in the city. It's streets and neighbourhoods. Where do we go for food, vs shopping. How do we get around and what do the locals do? What should I be looking out for?

It's really the difference between understanding the past, and navigating the now. I think that divergence in viewpoint comes from our upbringing. Tato found a way to sneak a baslica into our rugby trip. My mum took me walking for the sake of walking itself.

Either way, we love a walking tour.

Highlights

🍽️ Escalons de la Llotja (Valencia) - tapas bar in the town center, that's a little further back than the rest of them. Octopus with potatos was the stand-out dish.
