Secret Dinner Parties

Secret Dinner Parties

With Mamo & Tato in town, Jo and I can get some real date nights in. And this was one I would recommend to anyone who loves food, wine and people. Just a 15min walk from our place, this third floor heritage apartment is something out of a Wes Anderson movie.

Our hosts, Andrรฉ the wine consultant and Diogo the chef, met us at the door with a glass of wine. Like good Canadians, we were perfectly on time, and thus the first ones there. The two gentlemen have been running social events out of this space for almost five years, and looking around the rooms there was layers of art and knick nacks clearly collected over time.

Surprisingly, the rest of the dinner guests were all Americans (the good kind), and after an hour of meeting brewmasters and hairdressers, contractors and comedians, we sat down for a talk about what makes Portugese wine so forgotten in the international scene (tl;dr: no clear brand proposition).

After several glasses of wine, some delicious food and awesome conversation, we called it a night, drunk enough to order the Uber to the wrong place.
