Oh Rome.

Oh Rome.

You have to be careful who you take travel advice from. Everyone has a different prespective on what matters. Ahead of this trip, we heard all sorts of differing beliefs on what we needed to do, or where we absolutely should avoid.

Rome was contentious. I had never been, Jo had crashed through once on a Polish bus tour. We heard all sorts of thoughts. It's the only Italian city you need to see. It's dirty and dangerous. The food is exceptional. The food is trash.

I'm finding a rubric emerging in the places that Jo and I learn to love:

  1. Is it walkable?
  2. Does it have lots of great food to eat?
  3. What is the playground quality?

Rome smashed all expectations, and quickly has become one of my top three favourite cities to visit (joining Athens and London).
