Fields of Athenry
We're back in Paris. This time with Jo and only for 22 sweet hours. Bless her soul, Jo let me spend the entire trip to the hotel walking her through the significance of this Irish World Cup campaign. The impact certain players were having. The complicated outcomes anything less than a win would have on the pool standings.
Unlike last visit, where we had TV perfect seats, we're on the ground this time, and it's an entirely different experience. The grass is right there. The players are really close by. The cheers and songs of the 60K Irish fans are almost crushing in this crucible of noisy celebration.
From the get go, it's a stellar game for Ireland. Try after try after try. Beer after beer after beer. What a night. We'll never forget it.
Now let's just hope we make our early morning flight back.
