Adiós España
Spain was wonderful. Without trying to boil the whole 40 days in Spain into a single story, here are some of the reasons travelling with kids here has been incredible.
- Everyone wants your kids there. Spaniards aren't just tolerant of children, they're welcoming. Restaurant talk to our girls before they address us. Older people on patios will ask to walk around with our kids while we drink. Parents are generally watching out for each others kids.
- Siesta is nap time, but better. In Spain, Nora learned to understand that every day we stopped mid-day for a break, and through the journey she became more and more independent in her siesta. By the end, she would grab her favorite toys and head to her room to imagine by herself. That break (especially with Nora) was great for us to recharge too.
- Park culture is excellent. Not every country has a park culture, and Spain stands out here. The playgrounds kept clean, almost always busy, and are updated often. Outdoor patios often flank parks, allowing parents to have a drink and a bite while your kids are in eyesight.
We will be back Spain.
